Description

Joeri "The Shark" Mes is currently one of the best kickboxers in the -76 KG weight division Holland has to offer.

Biography

Joerie Mes, (born March 16th 1979) in Holland. Since his entrance in the muay thai world in the Netherlands Joerie Mes has been one of the most promising fighters Holland has to offer. His explosiveness and boxing skills remind him of a young Ramon Dekkers.

Mes has fought (and won) great fighters like Rayen Simson (three times) and Perry Ubeda. His biggest losses were against Dimitri Shakuta and the Thai Pajunsuk.

Mes often has been criticized to fight opponents with big names after their primes. In the near future this will probably change when he will enter the final 8 of the It's Showtime Trophy, a 32 man tourney in the -76 KG weightclass with a head prize of 40.000 euro. He qualified with wins over Cedric Copra and Yucel Fidan in Tilburg 2005.

Mes trains with the It's Showtime team in Gym Alkmaar with trainer Edwin van Os. Before that he was trained by Mike Passenier at Mike's Gym.

Mes was scheduled for a superfight against up and coming talent Henry Akdeniz at the K-1 Max Holland 2006 event, but had to cancel due to an injury.

On may 13 he fought a superfight against muay thai legend Ramon Dekkers at the K-1 Holland World Grand Prix 2006 in the Amsterdam Arena. Mes won this fight on points, after both dropping eachother in the second round.

On May 6th 2007 he fought the K-1 World MAX 2005 Champion Andy Souwer in the Slamm 3 event in Amsterdam Arena. Mes lost this fight by decision.

his defeat against Souwer was a pity; Souwer's a real legend, but Mes is an incredibly skilled warrior with a true killer heart (to my way of thinking, he belongs to the 'creative' or 'aristocratic' class of fighters). I enjoy his technical adaptability immensely

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
