Description

Park Yong Soo (Hangul: 박용수) is a K-1 fighter who specialises in kicking techniques. He has been a member of the Kook-Ga-Dae- Pyo-Sang-Bi-Gun, a semi-national Korean Taekwondo team. He is of South Korean descent.

Careeer

He has, of date, fought three matches in K-1. His opening bout was against Rikijyo, a Japanese ex-sumo wrestler who recently started professionl boxing and sported an 2-4-1 record. Park won within the first round, in 1 minute and 26 seconds by knockout (Low kick).

His second match was against a Karate fighter Daisuke Watanabe, who Park managed to defeat in one round, with a front kick to the face.

It is in his third match that Park Yong Soo would recieve his first loss, as it would be his first fight against a legitimate opponent who's purpose was not just to pad his record to create Korean interest. The 172lb 5'11 Kaoklai Kaennorsing (Muay Thai practitioner) took on the 242lb 6'4 Park Yong Soo on Febuary 02, 2007 in Seoul, Korea. Kaoklai earned an easy unanimous decision over Park Yong Soo, scoring with multiple kicks throughout the fight and also sending Soo to the canvas with a legkick.

Style

Yong-Soo's style is typical of WTF style taekwondo, where the guard is kept low to protect the upper body more effectively in favour of the head. His puching techniques are very basic (if not ineffectual) which reflects on his years of WTF style training, where punches are not heavily emphasized. His kicks however, are more graceful and effective.

Nickname

One commentator has dubbed him "The man who never takes his Dobok off, Park Yong-Soo," because he seemingly always fights with his Dobok on.

His fight with JLB was real fun to watch. I mean how can you put your guard down when you're up against a man like Jerome? heh, well at least he learned something from that experience.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
