Olympia Hero´s update

The official K-1 Hero's website is reporting that Kazushi Sakuraba (20-10-1) will return to the ring September 17th to face Katsuyori Shibata (2-1).

The announcement ends recent rumors that had speculated former Pride middleweight fighter, Denis Kang, might be Sakuraba's opponent for the card. The legendary Japanese fighter has not competed since he dropped a Unanimous Decision to Royce Gracie at Hero's "Dynamite USA" event on June 2nd. Prior to that, Sakuraba had gone 2-0 competing in Hero's with one No-Contest result.

His upcoming opponent, Shibata, is coming off a submission loss via armbar to Ralek Gracie at the promotion's last event on July 16th. Prior to that, Shibata stopped Yoshihisa Yamamoto in the first round for the TKO win at the Olympia Hero's event in March.

In a classis striker vs. grappler match-up, Hero's also confirmed that Zelg Galesic (5-2) will face Korean Judo expert Dong Sik Yoon (1-4). After going 4-0 competing in the Cage Rage promotion, Galesic lost by submission in his last fight to Makoto Takimoto at Pride 34 in April. Yoon is coming off his first MMA victory, an impressive armbar submission win over Melvin Manhoef at Dynamite USA.

Earlier this week, Hero's announced that highly regarded Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (14-1) would also return September 17th, to meet Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert, Bibiano Fernandes (1-1). Yamamoto has not competed since December 31st last year when he knocked-out Istvan Majoros at K-1's Dyanamite event. Considered by many to be one of the word's better pound-for-pound fighters, Yamamoto has not been defeated since 2002 when he was stopped by Stephen Palling.

The September 17th event, which will take place at the Yokohama Arena, will feature the semi-finals for Hero's 2007 lightweight Grand-Prix, with Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante taking on Vitor Ribeiro and Kultar "Black Mamba" Gill fighting Caol Uno.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
