Alistair Overeem breaks silence, confident he will fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 146

Short interview article with allistair overeem By joe Adroit

Embattled Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight number one contender Alistair Overeem, who put his UFC 146 headliner opposite Junior dos Santos in jeopardy after failing a pre-fight drug test, has finally broken his silence.

But "Demolition Man" has (still) refused to address his upcoming hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), scheduled for April 24, 2012 in Las Vegas.

Instead, Overeem broke down his gameplan for his championship fight against "Cigano," (still) scheduled for May 26 at "Sin City's" MGM Grand Garden Casino (until we hear otherwise).

Perhaps "The Reem" knows something we don't?

Check out the transcript from the Dutch striker (via Caged Insider), who was a guest on last night's edition of Spike TV's "MMA Uncensored Live," after the jump.

Star-divide

"I am bigger, I am stronger, I am better in the stand-up and I'm better on the ground. So for me, I don't think about what he is going to do to me. I think about what I am going to do to him and I am only thinking about what I am going to do to him. I am going to be ready wherever the fight takes me. I do prefer to strike, I do prefer a knockout over a submission win but I'm going to be ready for anything ... I'm going to get this guy, I'm going to beat him. Nothing scares me about Junior dos Santos. Everything he's doing, I've seen it before. I'm not worried about it, I've experienced it all. There's no fear, there's only two things - trained and untrained and when I step into the Octagon on May 26 I'm going to be trained."

Overeem's testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio came back a whopping 14:1 in last month's surprise drug test administered to a handful of UFC 146 heavyweights, but until Overeem has his hearing in front of the NSAC, no changes to the pay-per-view (PPV) line-up are expected.

If at all.

Until then, all we can do is speculate, but it sounds as if Overeem expects to compete next month in spite of all the controversy surrounding his failed drug test. And if he is indeed pulled from the main event, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir is more than happy to take his place.

Stay tuned.

@Rishi hoping that overeem gets the licence is what you call thinking positive? i see no positivety, or fairness in alowing sb wh's proved to be a cheaaaaat to step in the ring again.
overeem and the likes of him should be all banned for life

@hicham
If overroid banned = deprived us of show and amazin fights since hé signed UFC.
Ok now, lot of interrogations about his last success (K1, SForce ... etc)
but i really hope he will continue his UFC adventure and fight all big names as Velasquez, Mir ...

Aw c'mon guys n gals. You cant possibly think that all the other fighters dont use. Jeez, theres money at stake and that means every advantage a guy can get will be used - legal or otherwise. The only difference is AO got caught, if indeed thats the verdict if his HRT credentials from Holland dont hold up. Its the same scenario as Ben Johnson in the olympics years ago ,he got caught others didnt.
Im not accusing every fighter out there but dont be blinkered and witch hunt the guy. He is still a talented fighter. I find getting caught on this test stupid for other reasons. Having been around body building, strength and conditioning and competetive sports for nearly 30 years I know its one of the easiest tests to beat. Guys simply used to balance their testosterone intake with epiandesterone intake and keep the balance even though both levels were highly raised it wouldnt fail a test.
There is PED abuse in all professional sports and a lot of amateur too. Dont think that just because a guy isnt ripped and huge hes not using,. Stamina and strength increasing agents are widely availiable that have no visable usage signs ( increased mass etc) but still give an edge. Im not saying its right to have PEDs in sport but I am very much a realist and I have often found that the first people to shout or those that shout loudest have something to hide. The only way forward is a monthly test of every fighter on the UFCs books and at that it needs to be with a 24 hr warning as water based roids can be flushed from the body in abut 3 days.
Wait and see, its gonna get interesting

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter?
