Shootboxing Road to S-Cup Act 2- Two More Matches Announced

With just 11 days until Acts 2, two matches has been announced, plus another note from the world of sumo. There is an Edit to allow for Breaking News

Sources: Nightmare of Battle; Sumotalk.com,

Act 2 is shaping up on paper to be a solid event thus far.Two more matches have been announced.

Tsuyoshi Ishikawa will battle Akifumi Utagawa in a rematch. Their first match was in 2008 that ended as a No Contest in 3R when Ishikawa's eye was injured. Their fight was exciting and hopefully this time there will be a clear winner with no injuries.

Also annoucned, former Shooto Lightweight champ and former DREAM Featherweight Contender Lion Takeshi will be at Korakuen Hall to step into the Shootboxing Ring. His opponent will be Shootboxing Japan's Lightweight Champ Hiroaki Suzuki. The weight limit has been set at 60kg.

Suzuki in SB had defeated two other MMA fighters. To be honest this shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, Shootboxing is technically one of the first MMA promotions as it was started in 1985. MMA is simply Mixed Martial Arts. Shootboxing is Mixed Martial Arts, technically more of Standing Vale Tudo, but the martials arts are still blended into a hybrid style. To be successful one needs to have great boxing, kickboxing, standing submissions and Greco Roman Wrestling or Judo for throws.

The event lineup so far looks like this:

Andy Souwer vs Satoru Suzuki (Suzuki is the SB Super Welterwight Champ.70kg max)
Naguranchan Masa M16 vs Mamoru (57.5 kg Super Featherweight as Featherweight is 57.0 max)
Tsuyoshi Ishikawa vs Akifumi Utagawa (Super Featherwight- 60kg max)
Lion Takeshi vs Hiroaki Suzuki (60kgmax)

Thus far, no opponent fr RENA has been formally announced.

In a brief Sumo Note, the Playoff Loser Kakuryu who had an impressive 13-2 run at the recent Haru Basho has indeed been promoted to Ozeki. The promotion was formally announced March 28 as he was visited at his stable by emissaries of the Banzuke Reorganization Committee. Kakuryu was very gracious in his comments with no trace of arrogance, thanking the fans and promising to do his best to train hard as he wants to reach the rank of Yokozuna.

Until next time.

!EDIT!

BREAKING NEWS:

According to Shootboxing's Official Site, just released 04.02 RENA will not be participating. She aggravated an old injury and is not cleared to fight. It looks to be somewhat serious, more info will be posted as it becomes available.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
