Saki Planning to Move to Boxing (as well)

There have been a lot of rumors about Gokhan Saki lately, with the biggest one that he was looking to move into another sport. At first it was MMA, as Saki had talked about moving into the MMA world and singled out Melvin Manhoef as a possible opponent, jesting that he'd armbar Manhoef, whose kryptonite has been the armbar throughout his MMA career. That talk quickly died down, though, and then the Boxing talk started. A recent interview with FightHype confirms that Saki is planning his big move to Heavyweight Boxing after his fight with Badr Hari in January. It isn't clear if he is leaving Kickboxing altogether or if he'll still take Kickboxing fights, but he does seem very serious about Boxing.

"It's been difficult and uncertain how kickboxing will develop in the near future, as well as in a long run. Besides, I feel there isn't a lot of competition for me anymore. I want to develop my skills and possibilities into new heights...Heavyweight boxing nowadays is very pitiful. The Klitschko brothers are very smart guys and very professional athletes. Nevertheless, both of them I will fight and they won't make the 12th round. For me, it is unbelievable how both David Haye and Tomasz Adamek fought their fights. If one of these brothers would dare to fight me, I'll get in the ring in no time. Boxing is really sad nowadays. One of the Klitschko brothers has fought in kickboxing. Watch him on YouTube. You will laugh your butt of. And think how long they would last against me? And in the boxing game, it will be the same thing...boxing requires adjustments in style, intensity, and the way you move. Adapting to this won't be a problem, but needs time and with help from the best in the boxing industry, I'll be able to accomplish this...I will destroy everybody. From a boxing perspective, I reflect on the Mike Tyson fights and how to make it a war with the tall guys. No kicks, no knees, no problem; who dares to fight me," stated K-1 stand-out Gökhan Saki, who made it clear that he too is eager to make the transition from kickboxing to boxing after his rematch with Badr Hari in January.

he got fast hands! but it would be a shame for kickboxing! i think he will be a good boxer in middle/lighthavy, rather see him in mma!, but that will be harder to jump in for him couse of the ground work!

There is very little money these days in kickboxing. You can not blame these guys for trying to earn a living.

Only Spong thus far has had the balls to go for MMA. Saki is true artist of kickboxing, but I don't think he can become top level fighter in boxing, or MMA. He is born to KB.

Made me laugh...If he talks like that, he did not evaluate boxing at all...

Man saki is a great kickboxer its really f...cked up i was under the illussion that it was going bether with the kickboxing game with rumors of a new k1 and showtime organising more tournemants and such storys .

I do understand it if there is no money to earn anymore for the top level fighters they are going to look for other options and a other challenge.

A lott of fighters said on televison during interview yeah i would like to fight a offcial boxing match overreem said it badr is gonna do it now saki .
Sumtimes its just a Publicity stunt i geuss we wil have to wait and see

What bothers me is dat all those kickboxers think they can just switch over to high level boxing like its easy. The way boxers box now are days is way more technical.

Boxing with you hand down throwing hard big swings with the other hand down if you do that against a klitcko or a Floyd mayweather you wil get knocked the fuck out
i know a lott of boxer do the same thing but still the way they are used to punch in k1 is different from the pure boxing game .

@Rishi on the picture you can see that saki punches bonjasky without protecting his face with the other hand hahaha! you cant do that in boxing ! boxing is al about defence and counter and not about slugging! they think its like a havy back training!

Cant take it - what we got here in K1 is the finest sport ever - a jewel with big requirements. Why do they choose the second hand and persevere till the K1 go on question is answered. No later then Showtime can overtake the whole thing and bring it up. Hey, kep the faith we need starlights there. Don´t give it up and sell your self like this...

yes they want to make a living thats for sure, but come on .. with the Klitschkos? He wants to kick everyone butt rightaway its not so easy... :) yes its all about the money... i hope K.1 revives of course it wasnt easy for these fighters, without the money coming from K.-1 too they are definitely not standing very well... i m sorry to see everyone wanting to do boxing is it that much more they would earn? I think many kickboxers live with the misconception that boxing is so much easier right?

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
