John Wayne Parr Wins, Ben Edwards KO's Mighty Mo in Australia on Saturday

John Wayne Parr continued his strong 2011 by knocking out Mostafa Abdollahi in the second round of their feature bout at Capital Punishment 4 in Canberra, Australia this weekend. Mostafa Abdollahi came in as a late replacement for Vuyisile Colossa, who was initially announced as John Wayne Parr's opponent for the evening some months back.
For Parr, Saturday's bout marked a second straight knockout win in 2011 and leaves him in prime position going into a September 3rd bout against fellow Australian, Frank Giorgi in September. While Parr's May knockout win over Mike Zambidis is sure to bring more attention than the knockout over Abdollahi, Saturday's win remains a big one for the long-time Australian Muay Thai standout.
Mostafa Abdollahi represented Iran in The Challenger Muaythai, the upcoming Muay Thai reality television series (in the vein of The Contender Asia) put together by the World Muaythai Council. Abdollahi reportedly excelled during the recent taping of the show, and this weekend's bout against Parr served to, at the very least, get his name out there a bit before it begins airing in Asia this September.
Ben Edwards and Mighty Mo met in another featured bout, which ultimately saw Edwards knock out his American Samoan opponent in the second round. Ben Edwards gained the attention of kickboxing fans in 2010, as he took home the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 in Canberra title in record-breaking fashion. There, Edwards took all of three minutes, twenty-eight seconds to get through three opponents. The Australian heavyweight was summarily thrashed by Alistair Overeem at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2010 in Seoul Final 16.
Mighty Mo's loss to Edwards leaves the K-1 veteran in a very precarious situation. Mo has now been knocked out in four straight bouts, this being the first time he has made it out of the first round since October of last year.
