Interesting news, as it seems that Buakaw Por. Pramuk may be making his American debut in 2011 after all. The former K-1MAX champion is now scheduled to face Dzhabar Askerov at a September 2nd event being put on by the Muaythai Premier League in Los Angeles, California.

Also scheduled for the event is a bout between Australian Muay Thai legend John Wayne Parr and Canada's one-handed Muay Thai champion extraordinaire, Baxter Humby.

Both bouts will actually be rematches, as Buakaw took a decision victory over Askerov under the K-1 banner in 2007 and Parr stopped Humby in their first bout, way back in June 2002.

Not familiar with the Muaythai Premier League name yet? Don't worry, they've just recently thrown their hat in the ring and Muay Thai Authority offered news on the organization earlier today:

The Muaythai Premiere League in conjunction with the World Muaythai Council will host eight events world wide for their first season which will conclude in April, a second season is expected to start in May. A total of 40 fighters in five weight classes have been selected to compete in the leagues inaugural season.

I would encourage checking out the full article over at Muay Thai Authority, which offers the anticipated list of competitors for MPL's debut season. Names include Nathan Corbett, Artem Levin, Yodsanklai Fairtex, Jordan Watson, Kevin Ross, Saenchai Sinbi Gym, the UK's female standout Julie Kitchen, and Andrei Kulebin (who, incidentally, just had Saiyok Pumpanmuang run through him inside of one round in Hong Kong on Tuesday).

As for the MPL specifically, it's great to see another player in the world of Muay Thai. The fact that they're holding their first event in Los Angeles affirms the importance of the west coast in the current American Muay Thai landscape. Expect related updates soon.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
