This weekend's fights

February 06, 2011

This weekend there were a few notable fights:

In K-1 rules, Alexey Ignashov took the win by decision over Roman Kleibl at the Ring of Honor event in Slovakia. Kleibl is a respectable K-1 fighter, but apparently, Ignashov couldn't really impress (again).

Also under K-1 rules, at an event called ‘El Desafio', in Malaga, Spain, Abraham Roqueni got the upset win (decision) over Andy Souwer. This was another unexpected loss of the 2-times K-1 MAX champion, after his shootboxing loss over Toby Imada in November 2010.

And the UFC 126 event of this weekend treated us with a beautiful frontkick-KO-win for Anderson Silva over Vitor Belfort. The fight began pretty boring, but Silva finished it very spectacular.

glad
Haven`t seen the Souwer fight yet, but I saw it is on the site. So I`ll check it out soon. Too bad he lost, hope he steps up his game the next fight. Maybe he took this one to easy as a warmup for March..or maybe with the K1 being on it`s ass, the motivation is lacking.. All assumptions of course. Perhaps we can get him in front of the camera at the upcoming IS event and ask him.

Last weekend I had a party at a friends house and he got the UFC pay-per-view, so we were up till 04.00 when it finally started haha!
But it was awesome again!! Jones vs Bader was cool. And I was happy to see Forrest again..and win :)
And then there was Silva! I was afraid it would turn into another on of his boring fights where he lets his reputation fight for him, but he once again showed why he is the insanely good MMA fighter everybody knows him to be. That frontkick was not only very fast and accurate..it was hard! Cool event :)

..oh yeah too bad Kid Yamamoto lost his UFC debut, he wasn`t fighting like he normally does. Hope he gets another shot, cause he has KO power!

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
