Crown Of Worms

My take on the WGP

QF1: Just Aerts` former killer self

QF2: The four time champion can`t properly beat a foot smaller opponent. WOW!

QF3: Slugfest. Saki has deserved it after 3 rounds. But he has to go another one to get it. Goes out with his head up, right elbow broken and left wrist strained.

R1 - Spong wins that by 10-9 and minus one for Canister for illegal kneeing, so 10-8
R2 - even round, 9-9
R3 - 10-8 for Dopereem
Score: 27-27
Winner: guess who, very much deserved.
Losers only sin: standing in front of the Dopeman instead of moving to his left, which when he did, did just fine.

SF1: Never say OLD. Peter is like a wolf protecting his pack. He keeps his AlphaMale status, even at a cost of urinating blood afterwards, and being half-blind. His energetic resources are drained.

SF2: The aslan started well for a not one, but a half-armed man. Delivered what he had planed more than good untill, well until he repeated Spong`s sin - stood still in front of the Reem (for crying out loud, why would he pick a name that is a slang "anus" - not that it doesn`t suit him, but...). He did just good while he moved to the left, more than good, even though crippled. As his team-mate, the needle lover must had known about his injury and aimed at it precisely, so the aslan got beteethed and called it a day. What a man, what a style. TKO, but not a victory for the junkie.

F: Nothing short of what prince of Morocco did to the Kami - attacking a downed opponent. Doesn`t the rule apply when there is a standing down? Overroid delivered multiple punches to a man that said "OK I`m down" and cut off a piece of his ear in the process. And what he got for it? 400K$ and his name in the history. Not that the man who said that the previos fight had killed him, that he pee'ed blood after that had a real chance against the behemoth on dope, but it's that he couldn`t even win the final bout with honor. Maybe those who will read about this tournament will think "wow" about the baloon`s "achievement", especially americans, but not me, and not the connoisseursrs of this sport.

I will remember this as the WGP when the money given for gym candy paid off.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. At some points interesting and to the point.

But your only goal seems to be expressing your bias and disrespect for Overeem.

yes in many ways you are right. Overeem had no real challenge as all the harder fights were fought with him out of sight. His win of Aerts is to me not considered a victory as it was not and he did not fight with Schilt only a Saki who had his bones broken previously and a considerably smaller Spong who did the mistake.. which means, he could be the K-1 champ now, but i hope, next year the one or the other will knock him out.

I gonna see again what you mention on attacking a downed opponent

Posting an article is greatly appreciated here! But calling the K1 champ a junkie is kind of disrespectful to say the least.
Your writing skills show you`ll have some great articles for us to read in the future. Hopefully they will focus more on the content of the fights and less on namecalling.

Jeah i think if you are a little bit lucky in the final, you can win it easier... I´m Bonjasky fan but in 2008 it was the same... kicking le banners broken arm, kicking sakis injured back and acting in the ring against hari made him K-1 champ...

Maybe every jear not the strongest and technical best fighter will be K-1 Champ... but its every jear surely one of the top 5 i think...

Incredible performance of "The Rebel".... Ghita kicked heavy and hard, some fighter would run away with tears in the eyes... but saki was incredible tough... and got it! But he was to much damaged for overeem... so it was not so hard for overeem to get in the final... what do you think?

overeem beat three men, two of which were injured but that is what happens in tournaments. sometimes luck is required just ask ernesto hoost after his 2002 win.
i personally think that the tournament was very similar to last years in that the most exiting fight was a semi final and the final itself was a letdown.
congratulations to alistair overeem.

Ì said this in another post but still, He won the tournament for Bonjasky 2 years ago and now for Overeem this should have been the final match. Aerts, great fight great man.... .

There continues to be zero positive tests for Overeem...saying he is a product of steroid or hgh is not proven. get over it he won......now only if he becomes the mma heavyweight champion then fights Badr next year in the k-1 final....

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
