Q: Why did you begin kakutougi?
A: I wanted to be the K-1 champion.
Q: How old were you when you started training?
A: 16
Q: What sort of fighting have you participated in?
A: I used to play football, then I just started K-1.
Q: What are your strong points?
A: Punching is my strongest point, but in the fight I will be kicking and everything else too.
Q: How do you feel 2 days out from your fight?
A: My condition is good. I trained very hard. I think I will win this fight.
Q: It is your first WGP bout, so what do think about it?
A: I feel like K-1 is the best in the world. Every fighter wants to be here.
Q: What is your goal in this WGP?
A: Now I want to win, and see what the possibilities are after it.
Q: Your opponent has suddenly changed, so how do you feel?
A: I will change my strategy a tiny bit, but basically I will approach the fight the same way.
Q: Do you have a message to your fans?
A: I want to put on a great show for my first fight in the Final 16, and I hope they enjoy it.

Q: Two days out from your fight, how are you feeling?
A: I feel great. I trained hard for this fight and believe I will do well.
Q: What is your impression of peter Aerts?
A: Peter has been in K-1 for so long. I am sure every fighter really respects him. I think we’ll put on a good show.
Q: Looking back on last year’s WGP, how do you feel?
A: I think each WGP until now has helped me get used to K-1. This time I am in perfect condition to take it.
Q: What is your goal this year?
A: Right now, I want to win my fight by knockout as soon as possible.
Q: Can you send a message to peter?
A: I have trained hard for this fight, and I think we can have a good bout. I will see you on Saturday. Osu!
Q: Do you have a message for the fans?
A: Thank you so much for your support. On Saturday it is the most important fight for me. I will do my best so please support me.
Q: You lost last year to Alistair Overeem. How have you trained since then?
A: I spent 2 months training hard in Holland with tall fighters.
Q: What exactly did you do there?
A: I mainly focused on using my kicks as a kickboxer there.
Q: Peter said he would give you a kickboxing lesson. How does it make you feel?
A: Fighters often say such things before fights, but they’re always meaningless. Let’s see what happens in the fight on Saturday.
Q: How do you feel representing Kyokushin in K-1?
A: The kicks I have as a Kyokushin fighter are different to those used by kickboxers. That is something different about me.
Q: Do you want to get revenge over Alistair?
A: I’m not even thinking about such things right now, but if we get paired up again I will be the victor.
Q: What is it like mentally trying to compete at both Kyokushin and K-1
A: In Kyokushin we train hard every single day. It taught me not to ever give up.

Q: How do you feel now with 2 days left before the fight?
A: I feel great, and I am very well prepared.
Q: What is your impression of Gohkan?
A: He has great boxing technique I think.
Q: How do you feel going into the Final 16 for the first time?
A: This is my third GP so I have some experience, and will use it.
Q: This is the first time you made it into the Final 16 though. How does it feel?
A: I have made it there before, so have experience.
Q: What do you want to show in your fight?
A: Like a chameleon, I want to show many different styles.
Q: Do you have a message for your opponent?
A: Gohkan Saki, if you are very well prepared then we will be able to give the fans a great fight.
Q: Also, do you have a message for the fans?
A: I have arrived in Korea. Be prepared for my fight!

Q: How do you feel 2 days out from the fight?
A: I trained very hard, so I just need to fight like I trained.
Q: What do you think of your opponent?
A: He has strong punches, is tough, and is an aggressive fighter.
Q: Looking back on your last fight in K-1, how do you feel?
A: Looking back on it, I have some regrets. If I overcome them this time I will get a great result.
Q: What sort of fight do you want to have this time?
A: One that is entertaining to watch,
Q: Please send a message for your opponent.
A: Let’s have a great fight.
Q: Do you have a message for your fans?
A: I am planning to have an exciting bout, so please look forward to it!

Q: How do you feel 2 days out from your fight?
A: I’m sleepy. I am really sleepy. I can’t really think now, but I’ll go for it in the fight.
Q: What’s your impression of Jerome LeBanner?
A: It’s a name I have been hearing since I was a child. I think he is a brilliant fighter. I do think the new generation have to step up to the plate though. I think I need to lead the way.
Q: What is your goal for this WGP?
A: This fight is very important I think. If I lose this fight, of course I will fight in Japan, but it’ll mean there are no Japanese fighters good enough. I have to win it. And, I want to end the year with a smile on my face.
Q: As the Heavyweight Champion you’ll enter the Final 16, so what sort of fight do you want to have?
A: Well, in April I was thinking that if I didn’t win I wouldn’t be in the Final 16. This time, there are fighters that didn’t fight all year in it though. Anyway, I think 99.9% of fans in Korea will be cheering for LeBanner. I want to have the sort of fight that by the end, that number is cheering for me.
Q: Please send a message to Jerome.
A: Well, we are going to fight and I am planning to lay some leather on your face. At the end, I will be standing.
Q: Please send a message to the fans.
A: As most Japanese fans will be watching on TV, I think it is harder to make an impact. I hope to have the sort of fight that they can feel happy about even through the TV.
Q: After LeBanner, who would you like to fight out of the Final 16 if you have the chance to choose?
A: Well, I am kind of weak in the Final 16, so I have to get there first. I guess the weakest of those that make it. (laughs)
Q: When we told LeBanner you want him to retire, he said some people believe in Santa too.
A: Well, I’ll do my best not to become a reindeer.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
