Kickboxing image

I feel a need to clarify something concerning Badr Hari and his latest doings.

First of all , we are K1 fans, right?K1 is a kickboxing (stand up fighting) organization that gathers creme de la creme of stand up fighters.Also there is Showtime and Collizion promotion that does the same thing.So basically we are people who love stand up fighting and prefer it to grappling and MMA.Many of us (me included) like all combat sports.

Why we love combat sport?I love it because it is  (mostly) fair.If you want to win, knock your opponent out, and no judge can rob you.The other sports?Take football for example:team of different players each with his own agenda, trainer, doctor, massage specialist, director, owner, sponsors, judges, bookmakers, audience.And then you get a game result that any of those listed could contribute to.(The list goes on, press, drugs, parties, love affairs).And I am supposed to waste my time watching that?Similar situation elsewhere.So I go for combat sports I am and I will always be a combat sport follower.I have my life, my family, my company, my friends, I consider myself a normal person.I also train as much as I can, and both my older son and a daughter train kickboxing.Many of those in my environment consider that extreme, saying that some more moderate sport would be in order.My favorite example to those is football.Players that get into a fight, hooligans that make stadium a place you are happy to survive, burning cars, and breaking shop windows after a game.Mass mentality, people who are afraid to stand up on their own then get their five minutes and bring out worst in them on the street.

No thanks.Combat sport is a Gentleman's game, where you are on your own, just you and your opponent.You touch gloves before the fight, give all you got and congratulate (if you are able to) one another after a fight.Right?Riiiiiiight?

Then comes Mike Tyson biting Evanders ear.I really loved that guy.I never cared what they say about him.But after that he was dead for me.Why oh why, didn`t you gave him one of your uppercuts ad broke his neck?Because you couldn't thats why!He was stronger than you.So you acted like a peace of S__it and ruined it for life, and thats how you will be remembered.I started training Kickboxing at an old age and my training mates were younger and more experienced.Kicked my ass on regular bases.Made me really angry.But trainer said "Each time someone kicks your ass he is teaching you something."Anger never helped.I discover it then on my own, but later read it in on book on Myau Thai:Never think what your opponent is doing to you but thing about what are you going to do to him.That is the whole point.Anger is useless in combat sport, not only useless but a serious drawback and thats a fact.

There is one very clear difference between brawling and a combat sport.Most people can outbrawl any top level fighter.Get behind his back, and smash something as heavy as possible on his head.Even Alistair wouldn't  survive me with a retractable line stand.For brawling all it takes is determination and ruthlessness.You don`t even need muscle.Even then some people will say that you are the man.But you are not.

And now to Hari.People like him ruin the image of figthing as a gentleman's sport, and fuel all those who wish to present it like something that promotes violence and bed behavior.It is a sad fact that Kickboxing image is often connected with criminals, you start training kickboxing , then you work as a bouncer, then you start selling dope, and later you are the man , but you are still known as "The kickboxer", nevermind that you trained it for a year and a half, and never had a fight in the ring.And then you have him doing something like this for a second time.

Do you have dogs by any chance?I myself keep Foxterriers .Angry little rascals.Most people are unfamiliar with dog fighting, and when two dogs start to fight they desperately try to separate them.The answer is simple, let them.As soon as one gets his ass kicked he will surrender, and the winner will triumph, and let him go.(The people who teach their dogs to fight among each other till death are solely responsible for that kind of behavior)

.So even a dog knows how to be a winner.Unfortunately some people don`t.My opinion of Badr Hari had it`s ups and downs.I saw him when he fought Ignashov and I cheered for him.I talked to everybody about a tall skinny kid, incredibly talented who almost won over than allmighty Iggy.Then he started to act like a foll with Stefan Leko talking stuff which I dissaproved but still a great fighter and he apologize and shook hands later.Then came Graham fight, and he got what he deserved.I watched (as all of you have) first Bonjasky fight and honestly it could go either way, but in those situations usually more renowned fighter get`s it and thats what`s happened.He acted like a lunatic.Then the second Bonjasky fight, which I wont waste my words on.However after that I thought he has come back to his senses.Nice, smart interviews,he lost against Schilt took it like a man, and everything seemed to work out.I started to watch him as I watch every other fighter.

You see, I love to watch and I respect almost every fighter out there.I am enjoying in every fight which I watch with my friends and children.After this I only have to say one thing.Badr Hari is a stupid, cowardly fool, frustrated, inhibited, immature individual.He is AT LEAST smoking pot if not something worse.He is getting all support from Mike, who is very much to blame for him turning that way.And he is going to his well-deserved doom.

And then there is his fanbase.Everytime he does something like that new faces come her supporting him."He had a difficult childhood, they bullied him!"Yeah.I read on the another forum that Hollander hate him becouse he `s a MUSLIM so they fixed Gerges to win.And Gerges is YOGI FLYER.He can wery well cary an AK47 next time and emtpy a few magazines over a crowd, he would gain more fans.HE IS MISUNDERSTOOD!HOW YOU PEOPLE DON`T GET IT!

I, for one now openly HATE him , and I think people like him are BAD for the sport.I dont care if he has a zillion fans.I wish him good health and many defeats, long live Graham, Schilt, Overeem, and everyone else who kicks his arrogant ass.

P.S.And I am considered moderate person.

Sounded a little bitter, but what the heck, I agree with almost anything.

Badr IS a bad boy, and some of his fans are worse.
He is VERY LUCKY to have gotten where he is now and ruined it twice.

I dont hate him, because I dont know him.
But he should be banned directly from both Showtime and K-1.

He did wrong, but this is a fight sport, it is not a tennis nor a ballet. So I dont see a need to dramatize so much.

really excessive and inaccurate
He erred on the ring. Twice.
It is a fact. This is unforgivable and deserves punishment.
Then, there was apparently no damage for the showtime organisation , and for
Hesdy who finally took the title.
It does not ruin the kickboxing him alone with his
Hari will not ruin the image of showtime.
Overal, You are punished for your actions and your actions just, to
appropriate and proportionate way. The regulations exist and provide for such violations of rules.
it is no sense ;
1 of wanting his professional death
2 to request exclusion from the K1 since it does look only
showtime and may be the dutch federation of
kickboxing or muay

Interesting article. A bit extreme here and there IMO, but I agree with most you say.
Like Jonnie77, I dont hate Hari, because I dont know him.

I liked what you said about dogs: even they know when to stop.

Very good article in general. I agree with most you said.
Win like a man, and loose like a man. Bottom line, be a MAN! You can loose every fight that you ever fought and still have respect. It all comes down to your attitude. Manhoef lost by KO and came to congratulate and hug Saki, and Saki carried him on his shoulders in the ring. Who can tell me that is not the right way?

it deosnt have nothin to do with him being muslim or not...people hate muslims all over the world anyway.....u say i think people like him are bad for the sport just like if he killed gerges or he ate his ear like mike tyson did....(even tyson had a strong reason for doing that,and u probably dont know,just watch the first fight and look carefully the way evander ko´d tyson with a head kick,tyson tried to expalin but no chance,the seconde fight evander did it again,u can see clearly tyson trying to tell the referee,but the referee didnt care,what would you do if it was you?)
its true that hari had no reason for committing a technical foul(but technical fouls are part of this sport)for that he lost the fight,he lost the belt,is this not enough punishements?????no offense but your article is all messed up brother....

Hmm... interesting to see it out of your perspektive... but just I as a Bonjasky-Fan, don´t hate him, even though most Badr Fans don´t like (maybe hate) Bonjasky...

I would like to see Badr anymore... the only problem i see is, that his opponents could get injured, if he will not get himself under control...

What should we do? I also see, his immature moves lets our sport shining in a bad light...

You know what, Badr is not a bad guy he is a little bit too young and sensitive to be this famous. I hope he finds his weakness and corrects it.Anyway he is a first class fighter with outstanding technical ability just needs more control on himself.

Torazulu is a very good article and i really enjoyed reading it. What i can say is that there are fools everywhere, who support bad and violent behaviour. You article had the base, and it clearly shows that you are a good sportsman. i understand you on all points and also i m glad you told us why you like combat sports because i was asked the same some days ago.i asnwered about the same as you did. i dont think it would be wise for him to return again i m deeply sorry for this ugly turn which ended his career so far i just hope peace for him, and i also think its mainly coming from the anger and his coach did the bad way ultimately. i hope for him and i hope he grows up in mind....but i accept the facts and i do not wish to see any serious damage from him in the future...ahh such a loss
only wondering why no official note from its showtime??

I agree with you. Especially on the part about Mike and everyone who kicks his ass. But...there is a "but". Pot can be a very good thing, especially in a family like mine. Family dinners are much more fun and relaxed when there is a pot circling afterward. If there is not any when we have a family reunion, there is often unpleasant silence or nasty quarrels. So my man, dont blame it on the pot. Horse neither. Usually coke and xtc (met) cause that kind of behavior.

@mehdiman Oh yes there is. How about the threatening letters from hariman bada fans to Remy? How about all of those who justify his behavior as NORMAL? How about those who said burning houses down is OK? And Jonnie said "some of the fans" and not "all of his fans" - ring a bell? I thought that we were leading a dialogue here, and that means: one speaks - other listens, then other speaks - the first listens. There is a good american joke about it:
Do you know what is the common problem with the thousands domestically abused women in America? THEY DONT FUCKING LISTEN!

@Rob Like some already said.
Remy and his family got death threats from Hari fanatics.
Nuff said.

you really think he uses drugs? i wasnt paying attention to that previously and yes pot dont make you agressive , 2 things make agressive is either coke as Mitko said or some of the heavy anabolic steroids. I hope Badr dont use any of them though..

Thanks for your input, and I mean all of you.I just needed to express how I feel, and that`s what I did.
I am not dramatizing at all, it is what it is.You cannot cover it up.And it is fight SPORT.Not street fighting.
I was just being sarcastic.
@Another Rob
Thanks for your opinion regarding my article.
I live for moments like those.That`s what fight sport is all about.
@Mtko J.
You are 100K gold.While others rile me with their defending and explaining of his actions, you sound like his sister, perfectly nice and good girl, who is fully aware of what her brother is, but defends him nevertheless.Find yourself another favorite fighter, he doesn` t deserve you.
@Jonnie77, D-Rop, 2wayfreak
When I say I now hate Badr, it means only that when he fights, I will be against him regardless of his oponent (If he was to face Brock Lesnar in a MMA match for example, i would cheer for Brock which I also can`t stand).And I dont need to know him to hate him in that way.
Religion, race or color of the skin are most idiotic things to debate, especially on this kind of forum.I read comment I mention on another forum, and I mentioned it just because it is absurd.However there are many people who feel that because fighter of the one religions wins, he is making a statement for that religion.Thats stupid beyond reason.Fight sport is a fight sport it is not a war.Good fighter and a good sportsman is always loved and welcomed in every country.Any diversity is welcome and makes fight only more interesting to watch.
Sorry for the long post, and best wishes to you all!

and let me thank you for this great article of yours , you are truly a sportsman and thank you for all your kindness toward me. Yes i know how he is .. maybe one day he will force me by his next step to look for another favorite fighter. I must say i was on the edge when he did it the first time more than now.. so we will see anyway.. thank you once more

Nice article

I would not say that there are drugs involved unless you have proof. But lets not get on the recreational drug angle.

I do not hate the man. I hate what he is doing inside the ring and what it does to disrespect the other fighters.

As far as the image of standup kickboxing goes Badr Hari is the most marketable standup fighter in my opinion. Stating that you regret your behaviour is just words. It is further actions that will tell the story. After the Remy problem Badr apologized and said it would never happen again.........Oops he did it again.....Another apology and his fans say come on its fighting sport or come on the other guy was not hurt. Badr clearly broke the rules. Yes it is a combat sport but there are rules.
When a so called professional fighter breaks the rules in a fight, a fight in which he signs a contract to engage in under the specified rules, he should forfeit his pay and deal with a suspension honored by all sanctioning groups.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts w/ us torazulu!

I have very ambivalent feelings about Badr, but most of all I feel sorry for him doing the same mistake twice. Hope he can clean up the mess and give us an explanation.
