UPDATE: Remy Bonjasky has doubts.

These are exciting times for Bonjasky. The request for a lisence to have his own Kickboxing school has been sent. But it will take time and patience to get an answer about his -Bonjasky Academy-. It is unclear if he can continue to fight. Soon he will have new surgery on his eye.
Bonjasky: I have a sort of blind spot in my right eye. This can be fixed, but it is the 4th time already and its getting dangerous. It is because of the boxing. If I have to quit that, its the end of my carreer.
Bonjasky expects the surgery to be in the next 3 months. After that he will know more.
Bonjasky: Right now I am thinking about quitting, because I dont want to lose that eye. The doctors already said that quitting is the best option. In the beginning of my carreer I took a risk willingly. But now I had my success and dont want to take that risk anymore.
The K-1 champion seems to already have found a new occupation with his new sport school.
Bonjasky: I will be the head instructor and focus at Kickboxing and Muay Thai, but other arts are also possible. If the procedures works out fine, things will be clear in 3 months, but I would have been happy to start right now if that was possible.
Bonjasky doesnt say what the location is going to be. If the request gets rejected, he may need to find a new location.
Bonjasky: I prefer Almere-City (Almere-Stad) or maybe Poort. But not Buiten. There they have Seconds Out already. I have trained there and will continue to teach. I dont consider them as a concurrent but as a school that I can cooperate with.

Het zijn spannende tijden voor Remy Bonjasky. De vergunningaanvraag voor een eigen kickboksschool is de deur uit, maar totdat deze is toegekend moet de K1-vechter geduld hebben of hij zijn Bonjasky Academy kan starten in Stad. Ook is het nog onduidelijk of hij zijn actieve carrière kan voortzetten. Binnenkort wordt de Almeerder opnieuw aan zijn oog geopereerd.
,,Ik heb een soort blinde vlek in mijn rechter oog. Dat kan worden verholpen, maar het is al de vierde keer dat ik aan mijn oog geholpen wordt en dan wordt het gevaarlijk. Het komt door het boksen. Als ik daar mee moet stoppen zou dat einde carrière betekenen'', vertelt de 34-jarige Almeerder. Bonjasky verwacht dat hij over drie maanden wordt geopereerd en daarna duidelijk is of hij nog door kan. ,,Ik neig momenteel meer naar stoppen. Ik wil namelijk niet zonder oog komen te zitten. Bij de eerste operatie zeiden de artsen al dat het beter was dat ik niet meer zou vechten. Toen stond ik aan het begin van mijn carrière en heb ik het risico genomen. Ik heb inmiddels mijn succes gehad en dus wil ik geen risico meer nemen.''
Een invulling van zijn tijd na zijn actieve loopbaan lijkt de K1-kampioen dus al gevonden te hebben met zijn plannen om een eigen school te beginnen. ,,Ik word de hoofdtrainer en zal me gaan richten op kickboksen en muay thai, maar er kunnen misschien ook andere disciplines worden gevolgd. Als het allemaal mee zit in de procedures dan heb ik over drie maanden duidelijkheid. Ik wil het liefst nu al beginnen, maar het is niet anders. Zo zijn de procedures.''
Op welk pand Bonjasky zijn pijlen heeft gericht wil hij nog niet zeggen. Mocht zijn aanvraag onverhoopt worden afgewezen dan gaat hij op zoek naar een andere locatie. ,,In ieder geval zoek ik een pand in Stad of misschien Poort, maar niet in Buiten. Daar zit Seconds Out al. Daar heb ik zelf ook getraind en blijf ik ook nog trainingen geven. Ik zie die school dan ook niet als concurrent, maar eerder als partij om mee samen te werken.''

The DUTCH Legislation (or the regulations of the Dutch Muay Fédération) is so restrictive?
is there a numerus clausus dojo by city in HOLLAND?

Very sad news if he really has to retire. But
perfectly understandable. There is nothing more
important than your health.
@mehdiman He wants to teach kick-boxing,
right? Well he can teach kicking, defending as
well, but boxing? He can teach "hands-up-kicking",
but maybe he needs to register that discipline in
the Dutch sports federation first before opening a
dojo.PS

I am also intrigued by this "Procedure" talk.I
mean, all over the world all kind of people are
INVENTING and teaching all kinds of martial
arts.What body in Holland governs kickboxing gyms
and gives licenses?Could someone elaborate on this?
@torazulu I think this has little or
nothing to do with martial arts or anything. In the
Netherlands everything is so extremely organized
and controlled, that you need a licence even to
take a big shit. And when you have it, you need to
follow the regulated procedure (you know: take of
your pants, sit down and so on ...)
@D-rop You are right. The Dutch
Sports Federation is very angry with Remy because
he beat Badr once, knocked him down once, nearly
missed his skull with a ballistic projectile and
provoked him in an unsporting manner until hariman
stepped him on the head to teach him some manners.
They will let him open his dojo only when Remy
pleads guilty for all the injustice he has done to
hariman and issues a public appology to him, give
him the GP money that righteously belong to hari
and agrees to fight him blindfolded so that badr
could win and prove to the world that he is the
best. Only then will they let him open his dojo.
