Is Remy Bonjasky's career over ?
Conflicting reports are out, but Mixfight.nl is reporting that 3 time K-1 Grand Prix champion Remy Bonjasky may not fight again. Apparently during the It's Showtime Amsterdam show a message was repeatedly shown on the big screen in the arena that said Bonjasky was undergoing eye surgery which would likely forced him to hang up his gloves. Some fans in attendance claim there was no such message, however many also say that it did appear.
Obviously, this is not definitive news at this point, but even as a rumor it's worth reporting. Despite not being the most popular fighter, Bonjasky has been a major player in K-1 for the past decade, earning three Grand Prix titles, and holding wins over countless major names. His retirement would be a blow to K-1 for sure.

Thanx for sharing mounssef, but is this really FOK1
exclusive?I hope everything turns out good for Remy and he continues on with his fighting career
I was there and the report is true. The message was shown repeatedly.
Bonjasky himself was quoted about the eye surgery and a probable retirement.
fight Badr first, and then go in surgery if you
want. Naaa im joking, I really hope he comes back, There are so SO so great fights we can see from The Flying Gentleman.
If he feels he need the retirement, he will do.
Bonjasky has been always a model of gentleman and
good sport behaviour. He is one of the legends of
the K1 and 3 times champion. More than 12 years
fighting is a good career. He had problems with his
eye some time ago, so we will see...
Oh Remy, please dont leave before beating hariman
bada at least one more time ;-) Just kidding. If he
really retires - it would be our (fans) loss, my
especially. You know, like when someone is your
favorite, I shake like crazy when he fights. I
jump, scream, have a lot of bear to cool off (its
not helping though) and have broken two chairs in
the process - the first when he downed hariman, the
second when he downed Semmy. Finding another fav
could be tough from the current basket, but maybe
Zimmerman, he is cool enough. What do you think
Asfranco and Hera?PS
Maybe I was not kidding after all
OK now, this is some serious stuff, and I will
pretend to never have heard about it. Can someone
PLEASE delete the article? For gods sakes my
daughters are crazy about him. He cant just leave.
He will fight with his glasses on. PERIOD
i really hope k1 doesnt lose one of his legend
fighters in a really good age to keep fighting.i
like him as a fighter and as a person also.true
gentleman.mitko.im having the same problem.after aerts i dont think i ll have the same passion for the sport.cuz theres no one to cheer for.i love saki.i like verhoeven.he is similar to aerts phsycally and with fighting style but he needs more killing instinct.so,i dont know.
@conan81 Yeah man, Saki too - great
person, but he tends to get injured, so I could get
disappointed, so I will go with his BFFL.
Well, I hope Bonjasky can continue fighting, he is
my favourite too, and tyo be honest, he never
defrauded me in his fights, he always did his best
and he always was at good level in his career. He
has beaten almost all the legends of K1 and is the
god of the flying knee. Lets see what happen,
Bonjasky said some time ago he would fight 4 more
years, but an injury eye its too serious. And right
now I dont have any fav... so this is pretty sad :(

Interesting to hear about your new possible
favourites also. Mine is Saki, and it was a
terrible year last year to be a Saki fan, but I
never lost hope, and now I think it will be fun
again. Anyway, you gotta respect Bonjasky, he was
never a favourite of mine, but I recognize his
skills and his smart fighting, he is a major
player. I hope this is just a rumour, but if it is
true, I for one want to see him against Aerts if he
is to have a retirement fight. PS I`m keeping an
eye out for Brice Guidon, and Raul Catinas also in
case I need some more favourites.
I talked to Bonasky on the pressconference and he
did say he had trouble with his right eye. He
couldnt tell me that much, because he said we would
all hear it soon enough. Im afraid this is serious
business. I hope he will fight again one day.
I read somewhere that he has a blind spot on his
right eye. He got it when he was at the beginning
of the career and even then doctor told him that he
should quit fighting. I also read that he plans to
start his own gym when he retires and that he
already has the license (or whatever he needs) for
it. If he retires I will miss him too, but health
is the most important thing. If he continues to
fight he might lose his eye
