Pressconference: Ernest Hoost presents It's Showtime Barneveld

This afternoon there was a press conference for the upcoming It’s Showtime event in Barneveld which is being co-promoted by Mr. Perfect himself, Ernesto Hoost.

It's the first time Hoost is active as an event producer and he seemed pleased with the result so far. But tomorrow is what it's all about.

After a brief introduction It's Showtime made an interesting announcement concerning the judging of the upcoming matches. Since It's Showtime always wants to deliver action-packed fights they came up with a new rule system to make sure every fighter goes out and gives it his all. They announced that fighters who will have a more attractive fighting style and spirit are given the advantage when it comes to a decision (unless of course one has clearly more points, but that is obvious). This way they hope to stimulate the fighters to present more action for the fans. It's an interesting development and we'll see how this new rule will work out in the end. Hopefully it causes more motivated fighters and less questionable decisions. However it is a rule which can only be judged after seeing it in action.

Ernesto Hoost then talked about being on the other side of an event like this. Instead of fighting he is now hosting (no pun intended). When asked how he liked it so far, he simply replied "Fighting is easier". He elaborated by saying there are so many things he needs to take care of now. When training for a fight he could really focus on one thing, namely himself. Now he must look after every little detail, plus it's all completely new to him. But he likes it and is looking forward to promoting events in the future. Hoost is thrilled with the matchups as all the fighters seem very competitive, so anything can happen. A phrase well-known in K1. Simon Rutz was happy about his cooperation with Hoost and the two seemed to get along pretty well.

Next-up were the introduction of the fighters and their anticipated stare-downs. The first fighter to be called was Marat Grigorian...who turned out be still in the sauna! So they carried on with the other headlines.
Rico Verhoeven entered a tough stare-down with his opponent Jantje Siersema. Rico was surely the bigger fighter here, which is of course no surprise. His big hands could easily fit both of Siersema. We'll see what damage those hands can do tomorrow.
Dennis Stolzenbach had to step back after Brazilian Anderson Bradock Silva answered his stare-down which clearly made a mental impact on the much smaller Stolzenbach.
After some non-physical confrontations things heated up when French Brice Guidon decided to literally go head to head with Mourad Bouzidi. After some semi-aggressive head bouncing they started to get a little pushy and eventually Ernesto Hoost himself had to come between the two, stating they should save it for the fight.

Quite the opposite happened when William Diender and Murat Direkçi faced each other. When entering the stage Direkçi fake punched Diender who simulated being hit. After which both men spent their stare-down laughing and joking. Which by no means is a sign of holding back tomorrow since they are both well-known for their endless fighting spirit when inside the ring. Diender is replacing K1 MAX Champion Giorgio Petrosyan who broke his hand in the Final 4.
After the It's Showtime 77 kg Worldtitle match between Sem Braan and Dmitry Shakuta was announced, latecomer Marat Grigorian decided to show up fresh from the sauna so he could still pose for some photographs.

During the question round Mourad Bouzidi was asked how he was looking forward to his fight, he replied calmly: "I'm going to shut his big mouth." Guidon answered by saying he doesn't have a big mouth and is actually a very nice guy, but now he needs to shut Mourad's mouth for talking tough.
To show Bouzidi isn't all aggression, he stood behind the hugging Diender and Direkçi, pinching Murat in his butt when the photos were being taken.

The current matchups of the main event  are as followed:

Soufiane Aouragh Marat Grigorian STR ; 3 x 3 73

Nikos Taramas Daniel van Corler STR ; 3 x 3 71

Jantje Siersema Rico Verhoeven STR ; 3 x 3 H.W.

Chris Ngimbi Chahid Oulad El Hadj STR ; 3 x 3 70

Seo Doo Won Harut Grigorian STR ; 3 x 3 70

Dennis Stolzenbach Anderson Silva STR ; 3 x 3 H.W.

Brice Guidon Mourad Bouzidi STR ; 3 x 3 H.W.

William Diender Murat Direkçi STR ; 3 x 3 70

Sem Braan Dmitry Shakuta STR ; 5 x 3 77

We saved the questions from our FOK1 users for the special behind the scenes footage. Should you still have some interesting questions you would like to ask these fighters or maybe the promoters, Simon Rutz or Ernesto Hoost, be sure to post them here and we'll see if we can get you the answers.

@Rob Ha ha. They both decided to cool down when they saw Ernesto was going to keep things in order. Who can blame them

@Rob Rob, what exactly is the problem you're having?

@Dennis When I create an article and don't add pictures in the first draft, I can't see any option to do so when I go to "edit article". It only says: no images were uploaded (or something like that)
Am I overlooking something? So again, it only happens when I create an article without pictures, but I want to put some in afterwards. The picture in this article was included by Janine as a moderator.

Janine and I just got back from the event. And...it...was...awesome!!! Great atmosphere, great fighters, great matches and of course backstage acces to get you some exclusive stuff!
We've shot a lot of material, mainly backstage. Since we were not allowed to film the event itself due to some broadcasting contracts with televisionnetworks. I will try and upload it to my computer tomorrow and start the editing monday.
We've got very good footage of the fighters preparing in their dressingrooms, following them right up to their entrance on stage. And of course some interesting interviews!
There were a lot of fighters who attended the event, such as Spong, Slowinski, Petrosyan and Hari. We were able to get some interviews with Rico Verhoeven, Chahid Oulad El Hadj, Mourad Bouzidi, Murat Direkçi and of course Mr.Perfect himself, Ernest Hoost...who actually gave his personal view on the fight he was supposed to have with Hari.

I hope we can have the video or even videos (since we got so much) online as soon as possible.

@Daniel Indeed! Direkçi vs Diender was one the best fights that night. Neither fighter backed down and they both gave it their all. Beautiful!
I won't spoil the result for you :)
