Evolution 18: Slowinski beats Edwards
Slowinski had been recently recovering from an injury and his participation in this event was endangered. Luckily the injury turned out to be not as serious as it had been reported and Paul was fit enough to take on the reigning ISKA SHW World Champion Ben Edwards. Slowinski, the current WMC SHW World Champion, several times knocked down his rival before knocking him out with his trademark low kicks in round 3.

Seems like it was a good event, but what happend to
JWP vs Ole Laursen?
I found this info at the offical site
www.EvolutionMelbourne.com.auJWP statement
- Evolution Melbourne have received some bad news.. JWP has had to withdraw from the Oct 9th event due to a serious eye injury, posterior vitreous detachment(PVD) ... This has now been confirmed by his eye specialist....
"with a strong suggestion from the eye specialist it is recommended that JWP have a short break from training, sparring or any contact what so ever as the next 6 weeks as this is the danger period the retina is easily detached and could leave JWP blind in one eye forever".
Although we were looking forward to seeing JWP fight again in Melb, it’s more important his long term health is looked after, so it’s unfortunate but his health is the most important thing to the EVO team and all his fans we're sure.
Please look at this link if you are interested to see what the injury is http://www.rnib.org.uk/eyehealth/eye...et achment.aspx
DON'T DESPAIR! John Wayne Parr has agreed to be a special guest at Evolution Melbourne. He will be hosting his own corporate box as well calling in on the VIP Tables. You now have the opportunity to talk to and have photos with Australia’s greatest Muay Thai Champion...up close and personal. (See Info below)
Thank You to all that have got behind Evo Melb and we look forward to making history as the FIRST EVOLUTION event comes to Melbourne.
Great to see Slowinski in the winner circle again.
I like his fighting style and hope to see him back
in K1 in 2010. He always puts up good
fights. And let's all hope JWP's injury heals accordingly, cause it sounds very serious and dangerous. ...fingers crossed!
