What a fight. Glad to see Buakaw seem to be in great shape and a good condender for the title this year as well.

Great shape ? I completely disagree. His only luck was his weak opponent. He fought without spirit, technique, grace. He just tanked onto his opponent, of course Buakaw has an incredible stamina, but I seriously don't know what happened to him, but whatever it is... it's no good for him. If he'd fight with that constitution against a stronger opponent, in our out of Thailand he'd lose for sure.
A pity, I can't see him winning in the next round like that. And I say that as a great fan of Buakaw and Muay Thai in general.

I agree, I personally think that BPP and even Souwer have been slipping and have not been showing us their true potential. Maybe because they are both very good fighters, each with two MAX-titels, they somehow look down upon their opponents and underestimate them. But this is especially the case with BPP. He seems to have an attitude like: "Who do you think you are standing against me, you have no chance what so ever." That's all well, but don't forget you have to actually throw punches yourself to score. They're not giving you the win because of your previous achievements.
That's HMC behaviour...eventhough he has no achievements haha

I hope it's clear what I'm trying to say and I wonder if others see it like this.

Well he started od a little nonchalant wich he payed for and then bulldozerd over dida. maby just because he felt like it and could do better but he showed he wanted to win this and buakaws next match could very well look very different. More tecnique. less arrogancy.
Well maby im just trying to find an explanation because it would be great to see him in the top again but he is still in the tournament so we will just have to wait and see.
Good morning!

You both seem to assume that Buakaw simply underestimated or looked down on his opponent. That might be the case, but the big issue I get from studying this fight is that he doesn't know how to fight and block anymore. Study any of his old fights and you'll quickly realize even against weaker opponents his defense would be flawless. In slow motion you see that he doesn't even know/is unable to properly block completely forseeable hooks. I again think he's in terrible shape mentally, he's still a tank though, so he might win against some opponents, but certainly not against those in good shape.

Not Buakaw's best for sure; not that Dida was a mismatch, but could face better opponents; still, an interesting (though somehow deceiving) fight. I think Buakaw's shown earlier in his impressive career that he usually gives his best against real top fighters, otherwise lacking in motivation. Couldn't it be possible that he was confronted against Kyshenko this year? Maybe a crazy idea?

Thats wat i meant with that he was a bit arrogant. He (buakaw) certainly know how to block punches but he acted alittle that he didnt ned to!! I dont know why that is but hopefully he will realise that gap in the defense for the next fight.

lol, I enjoyed this fight alot - great action non stop!

First I got the feeling Dida surprised Buakaw with his reachadvantage and punches. When Dida gave Buakaw a hell of a treatment I got amazed of the power Buakaw has in his neckmuscles and how much of the hits he can absorb - amazing! (Still cant understand his KO loss against Sato, but thats another and ended discussion :).

Overall I think Buakaw did a good fight and still proves he is one of the best.
