A summary of Fields Dynamite...

First of all, Happy new year to eveyone on this site. May it be prosperous, full of success, money, health, plenty of sex of course and peace for the universe. I'm so freakin happy Bush is going away....^_^

Back to business,

The outcome of this event was definitely not a surprise to me and is somewhat a logical outcome. First of all, I know some people will say he is glutting over the fact that mma fighters beat the k1 fighters in their own game, so in all honesty and as primarily an mma practitioner and fan; I have the outmost respect for k1 which is in my humble opinion a lot better structured than d ufc for instance, and is a lot less commercial but let's face it, if it was as commercial it probably would be more successful than it is right now.

As to the fights: First the Hari-Overeem fight. It is very unfortunate Hari took this fight. I knew it was a wild card when most k1 fans thought a hari win was a sure thing. Alistair is a huge fighter with a lot of mma experience. He seemed massive compared to badr whose body frame is more that of a light heavy weight. Technically hari was not prepared at all in this fight, he seemed detached and his fighting was very sloppy. Evey time Overeem connected with him, he felt it big time.

What amazes me is why he didn't keep his distance since he was fighting a guy who obviously had the same kind of reach and a huge punching power. Any top k1 fighter who is not very prepared and I stress does not have a winning strategy would get destroyed by alistair, fedor, gonzaga, mir or any mma top notch fighter even in a stand-up fight. My hope is that he learns from this lesson. Personally what I like about him is his pride, somehow he has made himself a lot of enemies by acting foolishly and I hope he matures fast. This fight was a message to Hari in my opinion from the management in essence telling him to chill and be humble and I'm sure he got the point.

Mirco vs Choi: Well on the bright side a nice sparring session for mirco but honestly this fight was a waste, choi even if a main figure in Japan but his mere presence demeans  and lowers  the grade of K1. I understand he's a swell guy and all, but there are other fighters who are apt, better skilled and I stress physically predisposed to fight in k1. Mirco is a master kickboxer and hopefully can recover from his old wounds, but having achieved what he has in the past especially in pride he has nothing to prove to anybody, and it seems to me he is looking for a safe environment to end his career and what better than where it all started for him.

As to Mousasi well what  an amazing technician who simply is dimensions away from musashi. He simply did not  have the right arsenal to face a fighter like mousasi, so all in all a great show of skill for the dutch fighter who has an amazing future in mma and k1.

To sum it up, it was not a very entertaining event but a lot of conclusions could be drawn. As the mma weigh classes get stacked, fighters who can not make it all the way are going to look for other venues to make a living; they will come into k1 with a fighting style that is a lot more aggressive and very pro-active. The k1 fighters will have no choice but to up their game. Hari, Bonjasky, Hoost, and other's need to elevate their work rate if they are to be viable against a beast like Overeem or others. ..

P.S: I know I did not comment on the other fights but my wife is yelling at me...:(  "It's new year's eve, what are you doing" Oh and by the way this is the first time I write an article here so take it easy on me guys:)...

I like your style of writing. Nice insights, I dont agree however on what you wrote about Crocop. I just think that he wants to continue fighting because thats what he does.
About Hari you are right. It didnt look like he was prepared or even focussed a bit. He didnt move a lot and I couldnt see anything that looked like a strategy.
So even an experienced fighter like Hari can lose from a dedicated MMA fighter when not beeing prepared at all.

Hope we will read more from you,

@Daniel: Well, let's see I had to bribe her, some calamri, lobster filled ravioli's, a very overpriced wine could have done the trick....unfortunately a late night session of ground and pound was also necessary :) lol Next we hit the mall, so many rebates everywhere...

Thx for the comments guys....I appreciate the feeback

nice article, Sirzake, you made your point gracefully. I also think maybe one major clue to Hari's defeat was (aside from his general lack of experience in that sort of fighting style), his strange attitude in keeping within range continuously (pride?, disregard for personal safety?) I think too high of Hari's defensive skills, so I'd like to blame it on his inexperience. As for Mousashi, I got no real surprise, I think it's now some time since he's down the slope of decadence

Nice article.

'To sum it up, it was not a very entertaining event but a lot of conclusions could be drawn'
My opinion is: it was an entertaining event, but not a lot of conclusions could be drawn.

Yeah I thought it was entertaining, seeing lots of KO's and surprise-fights. As to conclusions .... I still think if Hari fights Overeem 10 times in K-1, Hari will win 7 or 8 fights. This was a lesson in humbleness for Hari (karma?). Musashi vs Mousasi was a surprise to me, more because of the weight difference. But a very pleasant surprise, Mousasi did very well! Musashi is on a downslope for 2/3 years already...

So what conclusions can you draw from this event? I don't know. You win some, you lose some. Let's just enjoy the sport!

Thx guys, I appreciate all the feedback... @ Aziz: dude even I don't agree with everythin I say...:) just kidding.

@ Nabil: Well, I think if we look at mirco's last fights at the Ufc, gonzaga, and congo we see that he is not the same fighter he used to be. I'm a huge fan of mirco, he's a legend and will remain so for a very long time. But there is something called age, and I think it's taking it's toll on mirco. He's a lot slower than he used to be, he does not pull the trigger like before. I think mirco in his prime was one of the best in the world, and I was sad to see him loose against gonzaga in that fashion since I wanted him to win, that loss affected him big time. To me he's an awsome guy and an amazing fighter.

@D-rop: I think u right in the sense that every event is entertainting since at least you got something to watch :). Oh and there's always a wisedome to be learned not matter wat it is...I think technicaly the event was weak and so was Ufc 92... A hari-bonjasky rematch would be v entertaining. ...

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
