Ruslan Karaev vs. Gokhan Saki K-1 WGP Final 2008
December 06, 2008 Quarterfinal
Extremly well executed technic by Saki and that
spinningbackfist changed the whole fight. Ruslan
still hasent learnt to protect him self and was
once agin close to get brutaly KO`d.
Very good fight. Beautiful backfist! But IMHO 10-9,
10-9, 8-10 = DRAW. Judges too often forget that the
fight consists of three rounds not only the last
one.
True, but a lot of Karaev's punches landed on
Saki's solid defence. But an extra round would
have been fun to watch, considering this was one pf
the best fights. Good fight by both of them. Hope Karaev finally learnes to keep his arms up.
I love Ruslans style, but when loosing his guard I
always get the hick ups. Nice fight!

Ruslan is a fantastic entertainer, and has that
give-it-all attitude. But I am so impressed by
Gokhan Saki. He`s in there with the best, even
though he is much smaller, and he goes toe to toe;
not afraid to box, exchanging punches, countering
cleverly, and all the time those lightning fast low
kicks annoing his opponents, making them loose
rythm. It`s just so incredebly cool. One of the
best fights, yes.
Karaev is a major 'attraction to the box
office', he's bold, enterprising,
agressive, sometimes rude, defiant, often
possessing just the right kind of attitude
everybody should step onto a ring, BUT a great
disadvantage about his style is his disregard for
personal safety, his contempt (or little talent)
for defensive techniques, and a tendency to
over-embroidering things which doesn't help him
(let's stay sharp and simple, I would tell him,
maybe he will learn something from this Saki
defeat)
I just love the comments you post, Pablo. Most of
the times, I agree with what you say. But what I
admire is the way you put it in words so
eloquently, and English isn't even your native
language.Respect, man.
Refined and florid style of Pablo's commnents
stands out, that's for sure. True scholar:)
this was a great fight but I have to say that when
saki fought bonjasky he was intimidated a bit. i
was saying this to myself then Mr. perfect chimed
in and reinforced what I said, "saki seems
impressed by bonjasky"back to the point, Saki was impressive against Karaev, even though it seemed Karaev was more busy, Saki landed more efficiently with nice short punches.
Oh my! D-rop, Chrzan_ko, I've just read your
comments... believe it or not, you made me blush!
:-) Sometimes I feel I too have a tendency to
over-embroider things - with words, that is ;-) If
you could hear me you wouldn't think much of my
English, it's just an artificial contraption, I
fear I got it almost entirely out of books and
maybe most than once from books earlier to the 18th
century :-)Besides that, glad you share my opinion, D-rop. I always eagerly read whatever you and Chrzan_ko write (as well as many others), here I'm no longer the scholar, but have rather much to learn and all of you help me doing it ;-)
