Draw and matchup final 8

The Draw for the final 8 was made after the final 16 event.

this is how it ended!!

       Jerome VS Remy

             Zimmerman VS  Texeira

              Saki VS Karaev

    Aerts vs  Hari

In a change from the practice of previous K-1 WGPs, the Final 8 matchups were determined in the ring immediately after the Final 8 had been determined. A random draw assigned the selection order, then the fighters one by one made their way to a stage representing the Final 8 tournament bracket. Up first, Karaev put himself into the third fight. Bonjasky was next, and opted for the fourth fight. Zimmerman than went to the second bout.

Saki, selecting fourth, was the first to commit to an opponent, matching himself up with Karaev. Selecting next, Teixeira decided he liked his chances against Zimmerman in the second bout. Aerts eschewed a matchup with Bonjasky, going instead to the still-empty first bout -- traditionally regarded as the most desirable fight, as it affords the greatest recovery-time before the semifinals. LeBanner, with the option of Aerts or Bonjasky, put himself in against the latter. Hari therefore ended up with Aerts first on his dance card for the December 4 World GP Final.

Thanks for sharing, Daniel

A pity that Aerts and Hari already meet in the quarterfinal ....

this is crazy! Who woould have thought that this was going to be the final 8 this year? okay Aerts, Badr, JLB and Remy, but Saki, Ruslan, Zimmerman and Texeira!! I think that its great that K-1 final has alot of new blood in it, to me this is a great mix of older veterans and young up and commers, and that is a good sign for K-1. Werry werry hard to predict a winner in this line up.

It's good to see that Schilt can't win again! I think Sefo was robbed with the decision to go to a 4th round but apart from that all good. I hope that JLB wins!

Nah. Saki took the first, Sefo the second, and then the third was pretty even. I think it was the right thing to go for an extra round. As much as I would have liked to see Ray take the last round, it was pretty obvious that he was out of steam by that time, and Saki deserved the win.

Yep, this looks to become a great final, the new blood is something K-1 really needs! Although I would have wanted to see the old-timers against the new blood in the first fights...

That Ruslan is at the last 8 is only a supprice while he fought not that good the last 2 or 3 years. Don't forget he was 1 or 2 times before at the last 8.

Great final eight, though I did think Sefo did enough against the backing-up Saki.

I really hope remy doesn't win by BS decisions, or razor thin decisions where he shows no aggression and doesn't do anything. That would be almost as bad as schilt winning again.

also it is good to have the 4 most experienced fighters fighting right away, because they we can see some new matches and possibly have some really unexpected matchups.

keeping my fingers crossed that they dont let Schilt fight in a reserv fight, theres a chanse that Aerts beats Badr and then gets injured, ( or any other fighter ). Then Sem would be back in the tournament and most likley win again.

Id say let Sem fight Hong Man in a superfight a finals insted.

^^yeah sem winning as a reserve fighter would be terrible...

Well, IMO, Schilt is the one who deserves to be in the reserve fight.
So there is a chance that we´re gonna have the same WGP-Champion again .... Someone else just has to defeat him, like Aerts did!

It would be strange that a person who didn't loose for 2 years till now wont be reserve. I agree with all we need a new champ, but then they have to defeat him and not because (politic)

offcourse you are right about the Sem thing, im beeing werry egocentric since i really dont want Sem to win another GP final. But like you say, if any one deservs a spot as an reserv fighter at the final`S it would be Semmy.

Hi guys...just wanted to say that I realy enjoyed watching the fight between Sem and Peter! What a fighter!! I am just glad (nothing against Sem) that this year he is not in the finals and that other fighters will get a chance too.
I believe that, IF Aerts can keep the injuries away...He will be the champ one last time....before he will quit.
Looking forwar to the fight against Badr...

It would be nice if Aerts wins 4 time the title just like Hoost. They are both the best fighters in the k1 time. I have a lot of respect for Aerts for being at the last 8 for the 16nt time. Someone who is on the top for 16 years in this kind of sport has a great fightingspirrit. I don't think this record will be broken in a long time, if it ever will be broken.

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter?
