Akebono attends signing event to promote the FIelds K-1 WGP event in Hawai'i

This past Sunday, Akebono, who is hosting the Fields K-1 WGP event in Hawai'i, held a free autograph event at the Don Quijote Super market(formerly Daiei) located in Honolulu.

Along with him were two other fighters participating in the event, Scott Junk and Deutch Pu'u aka the Polynesian Assassin. Starting from the right is Akebono, Scott Junk, and Pu'u. Also attending was Phil Baroni from ICON sports, who had just come off a win the previous night, and was handing out flyers this day without a bruise to be seen. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot of him.

The autograph event lasted about 1hour and a half, and consisted of free autographs as well as a couple speeches from Akebono about K-1 and local fighters.

They also had a raffle going on continuously throughout the event, giving out boxes of bottled water, Akebono T-shirts, and tickets to the K-1 event.

And of course, I got in line to get the autographs!

Scott Junk laughing when I told him he goin win

This is me telling Scott Junk that he is going to win for sure, and him telling me he will try.

I also got an autograph from Deutsch Pu'u, aka the Polynesian Assassin, who will be fighting Die Faust in place of the injured opponent.

This is the autogrpah from Akebono.

I also got their signatures on a poster I got from one of the event organizers.

But best of all.....I GOT THE TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!

We stuck around from pretty much the whole event, and in the end the event organizers gave us tickets for being such avid fans! It turned out to be the cheapest tickets available at $30, but hey, that's still $60 total plus the tax I didn't pay! The place the event is being held is also actually not that big, so I should still be able to get a relatively okay view of the ring.

So.....you can look forward to a short article about the Hawai'i event afterwards from me. Muhahaha!

P.S. I made sure the three fighters knew about our website, so don't be surprised if they drop by! Oh, and can anyone tell if that's Kid Yamamoto in the background? I couldn't really tell if it was him or if we asians all just look alike.

Dillitante, I've totally missed this article, it was published when I was away on vacation. Anyhow nice piece!

I didn't think we had any member living on Hawaii. I should have gotten you press passes so you could have covered the whole event.

The best K-1 community online!

The focus is on building a community that offers more to the users than any other K-1 website. The focus is also on that the community should be totally user driven, with the users as main writers of content. Who would for example write a better fight report than a fan who actually was at the fight? Or who could write a more interesting fighter profile than the fan who loves and really knows about a fighter? We believe that this approach will lead to that fansofk1.com has the most interesting K-1 information.
